The surface electrocardiogram (ECG). The ECG provides information on the electrical events occurring within the heart, and is obtained by placing electrodes on the surface of the body. The duration of the QT interval on the ECG is defined as the duration between the beginning of the QRS complex and the end of the T wave. It is a reflection of ventricular action potential duration, and represents the time during which the ventricles depolarize and repolarize.
